The SprinNG Writing Fellowship (SWF) is a 6-week online mentorship programme that focuses on six literary genres: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, book reviews, play/drama, and blogging. During the six weeks, mentees are put in continual touch with their mentors, submitting their work and receiving feedback and comments. Mentors and mentees will try to complete at least one piece of writing in their chosen genre each week, with the aim of having polished works ready for the fellowship’s anthology at the end of the program.

SprinNG was founded in 2016 by Oyindamola Shoola and Kanyisola Olorunnisola as a Literary Movement and Society dedicated to curating, revitalising, and transforming Nigerian literature. They established and operate a Nigerian Writers Database, which contains the biographies of over 400 writers, and have since published tons of reviews, poetry, stories, and essays, all of which contribute to the essence of national literature.

The SprinNG Writing Fellowship is, however, an expansion aimed at spreading the tentacles beyond Nigeria as this year’s edition calls for entries from emerging writers who are either citizens of or reside in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and South Africa. Submission guidelines are as follows:

  • The SprinNG Writing Fellowship is exclusively accessible to writers who have not published a book yet (eBook or hardcopy).
  • Applicants must be Nigerian, Ghanaian, Liberian, or South African citizens who reside in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, or South Africa.
  • Applicants must be between the ages 18 and 25.

Applications close on April 15, 2024. For more information, click here. To submit, click here.
